Who is Heather Ballim?

Hi, I’m Heather Ballim, Advanced Vegan Skincare Formulator. The Founder, Owner and Creator of Bella Bellini Botanics. It gives me immense pleasure and joy to introduce you to my Artisan Skincare Formulation Company, and Indie (Independent) Beauty Brand, ‘Bella Bellini Botanics,’ together with my line of skincare products. I am a Vegan, all products are Vegan, Handmade and audited through every process of the production. All products are also suitable for Vegetarian and Halaal consumers.

I am thrilled to have graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Organic Cosmetic ScienceDiploma in Organic Skincare Formulation, and Tutor Training Program. I also hold certificates in Natural Cosmetic PreservationCosmetic Stability Testing, Organic Anti-Ageing Skincare, Facial Masque Therapy, Chocolate Spa Therapy and Beauty Technology.

Yes……I’m a Beauty Therapist turned Advanced Vegan Skincare  Formulator, and savouring every minute of it.

Rigid GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is adhered to in my Artisan formulation lab. IFRA (International Fragrance Association) guidelines with regards to strict dermal limits where essential oils are used are also followed. This association is a global representative body of the fragrance industry.

Are your products Handmade?

Yes indeed, all products are Handmade by me, Heather Ballim, and I also audit every process of the production.

Are your products suitable for vegans?

Yes indeed, our products are plant based. Though not certified, we go to great lengths to scrutinise our suppliers’ documentation when sourcing ingredients.

Are your products suitable for vegetarians?

Yes indeed, our products are plant based. Though not certified, we go to great lengths to scrutinise our suppliers’ documentation when sourcing ingredients.

Are your products suitable for halaal consumers?

Yes indeed, our products are plant based. Though not certified, we go to great lengths to scrutinise our suppliers’ documentation when sourcing ingredients.

GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)

Good Manufacturing Practice is a system for ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards, ensuring that finished products are effective and safe for market distribution.

Regulations regarding proper skincare formulations, and rigid GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) are adhered to in my Artisan formulation lab.

I follow IFRA (International Fragrance Association) guidelines with regards to strict dermal limits where essential oils are used. This association is a global representative body of the fragrance industry.

What is the shelf life of your products?

All products must be completely used within 6 months from the date of receipt, as products are made fresh in batches.

What is TEWL?

TEWL is Transepidermal water loss. It is the loss of water that passes from inside the body through the epidermis, that is the epidermal layer of skin to the surrounding atmosphere via diffusion and evaporation processes.

How do I use your products?

Use clean spatulas, clean fingers and/or clean hands to decant the required amount of product for each use. A 24 hour patch test on the inner arm is highly recommended when purchasing any product for the first time. Products are formulated for external cosmetic skincare use only. All products must be completely used within 6 months from the date of receipt

How do I store your products?

Store all products below 25°C, out of direct sunlight, away from heat and water. Please DO NOT store your products in a bathroom, and/or bathroom cupboard and/or bathroom cabinet, and/or a damp and/or wet area, and/or near any humidity, as your product will spoil.

Can children and/or babies and/or pregnant women use your products?

Products are not suitable for pregnancy, lactating mothers, children, and/or babies.

Are your products made locally?

Yes, Bella Bellini Botanics is a proudly South African Artisan Skincare Indie (Independent) brand.

Are your products cruelty free?

Yes absolutely!

Are you products tested on animals?

Absolutely not!

Are your containers recyclable?

Yes, our containers are a blend of glass and plastic which are recyclable. Our ‘Re’ motto is always remember to recycle, reuse and/or repurpose your empty containers whether they are glass or plastic. Fortunately most schools and malls in South Africa have great recycling areas. We encourage you to make full use of these wonderfully free facilities.

Are certified organic ingredients used your products?

Yes, almost all of the ingredients used in our products are certified organic. We go to great lengths to scrutinise our suppliers’ documentation when sourcing raw ingredients.

Are your products natural?

Yes, our products are plant based and natural. 

Are your products organic?

Our products are plant based, natural, and organic as they can possibly be. Though not certified, we go to great lengths to scrutinise our suppliers’ documentation when sourcing raw ingredients. However, most of the ingredients used in products are certified organic. Products that contain water, or if there is a chance that the product may come in to contact with water will contain a minute percentage of nature-identical preservatives and/or emulsifiers synthesized in a lab which is acceptable in organic skincare. Please take note that this is a safety precaution with you in mind. Our anhydrous products do not contain any preservatives and are marked anhydrous under the description. Anhydrous meaning no water added.

Are your products certified organic?

No, we believe that the best yardstick of our products is the transparency, honesty, sincerity and integrity of our ingredient list/s. There are different shades of organic in South Africa and world-wide. We adhere to a strict plant based ingredient policy. We go to great lengths to scrutinise our suppliers’ documentation when sourcing raw ingredients. Please note that different certification bodies have different standards and criteria in South Africa and world-wide.

Are preservatives used in any of your products?

Only products that contain water, and/or if there is a chance that the product may come in to contact with water will contain a minute percentage of nature-identical preservatives and/or emulsifiers synthesized in a lab. Please take note that this is a safety precaution with you in mind. 

 

What does Anhydrous mean?

Anhydrous, means no water added. These are products that contain only plant butters, waxes, oils, and/or essential oils. These products contain no preservatives either. Do keep a look out for these products that are indicated so under the description of the product. However, if there is a chance that the Anhydrous product may come in to contact with water, it will contain a minute percentage of nature-identical preservatives synthesized in a lab.

How do I order online?

Kindly register on the website as our Esteemed Patron, as this will save you time. You can either register on the website by navigating to the drop down menu on the top right hand side corner of your mobile device and/or tablet, then click on register and complete the details, and/or at the top right hand side corner of your computer, click on register and fill in the details.

Ensure that you have read the description, ingredient lists and directions for use of the product/s you wish to purchase.

Add the product/s of your choice from the online shop to the basket, there you will be able increase and/or decrease the quantity of items required.

Once you are done click on view basket. Here you click on coupon code, enter your code and click on update basket. Should you not have a coupon code, please email us on info@bellabellini.co.za and we will glady email a coupon code to you.

Under shipping choose how you would like to receive your order. Should you wish to use our preferred courier option, click on calculate shipping.

You may also collect your order directly from us and/or use your own preferred courier at your own cost. Please view our days and times for collection before you collect your order.

What payment options are there available at the checkout on the website?

A direct bank transfer EFT option is one.

The other option is Ozow (formerly i-pay) through internet banking, provided you are registered for online and/or internet banking with one of the following 6 institutions, Investec, ABSA, FNB, Nedbank, Standard Bank, and/or Capitec Bank. What do I do if some of the product has shifted towards the lid?

Sometimes the contents of the container may have shifted towards the lid during shipping and/or transit which is unavoidable. Please use a clean spatula to scoop the contents back into the container.

What do I do if I accidentally left my product in the heat and/or the sun?

If you have left your product in the heat and/or sun, it will melt. Should this happen to you in error, place the covered product on a flat level surface undisturbed for 24 to 72 hours to reconstitute. Time to reconstitute is largely dependent on the heat and humidity. You may notice a change in texture due to the nature of the product, but it will be fine for use. Leave the product in a cool dry place that is below 25°C.

Can I collect my order directly from you?

Yes you can. Should you wish to collect your order directly from us if you reside in the Durban area and surrounds, that’s fine. Please indicate so, and kindly note our days and times for collections. Should these times not suit you, please email us on info@bellabellini.co.za and we will try out best to accommodate you.

Can I arrange for my preferred courier company to collect my order directly from you?
Yes you can have an order collected by your preferred courier at your own cost. Please email us on info@bellabellini.co.za and kindly ensure that the courier arrives with their own completed waybill, flyer and stickers, and adheres to the collection days and times please.
How do I register on the website?

Is there a lead time?
Yes there is. Please note that all products are made fresh in batches on order. A 7 (seven) working business day (Monday to Friday) lead time is required. This should help cater for any unforeseen national power outages and/or strikes. Bella Bellini Botanics cannot be held responsible and/or liable for time delays in this regard. In other words, we try our level best to get your order to you on or before 10 working business days from the date we receive the funds for your purchase.
